The Beauty of Classical Music

                Kol Nidrei - Max Bruch 

                 The Kol Nidrei composed by Max Bruch is one of my most treasured musical pieces of all time. It was composed for a solo cello and an orchestra. The score has been transposed for violin and viola but nevertheless nothing can beat the rich sound that this song shows on the cello. The song is a mixture of Jewish themes and it displays beauty , serenity , reverence and respect. Hence , i have decided to share this piece with those who choose to visit my blog and those who currently follow , in the hope that they too would enjoy the sanctity of this musical masterpiece. Ladies and Gentlemen i present ...Kol Nidrei...

Among other things...

My oath to try to keep updating my blog every Sunday has failed sadly but since we are heading into vacation time soon i may just retry it once more. As the school term draws to a close we are faced with end of term exams and our art end of term takes the form of a portfolio presentation . I have to hand in a pastel drawing of a fruit and a painting of a fruit. Along with a figure drawing , a final for the invitation template, a painting of a leaf and finally the blog. Over the length of this term i realized the importance of time management because of the various extra curricular activities i participate in and the demand of each. At the moment , my camera is not functioning properly so i am unable to get photos of my portfolio work to present on the blog and they cannot be scanned because the work is too large. Hopefully i will get that problem rectified soon.

On another note, the art community is buzzing on the topic of the artist Ai Weiwei due to his recent arrest . For those reading this post and have no clue as to who Ai Weiwei is , he is a chinese national and also a famous artist  and a political activist. He is mainly known for his work of art called " The sunflower seeds" . He was arrested and held for approximately 2 months without any formal charges or reasons for his detainment. Many businesses and the art community have showed their disgust with what has happened to him and many signs have been seen to release him. The Art Community of Hillview College,Trinidad and Tobago  is holding an Art Exhibit sometime during the month of  October and it is themed " Secrets ". Behind every great show/ event there are always the planning involved to make the show what it is . As such , each of the students taking part in this event has been assigned a certain task for the show in addition to submitting work . Currently the task at hand is the invitations . Everyone has to design 3 invitation templates and then combine all the ideas or  pick the best one for the actual invitation template. Here are my 3 templates . Please comment and give any pointers/tips that could enhance the invitation .

A Sketch of My Brother 

I must admit. i have slipped in the time i have taken to upload a new post :( but hopefully now that i have less things going on my schedule i should be able to do this more regularly  :) Recently i have been working  on the human figure and still life paintings...i must say that the human figure is quite a challenge in getting direct proportionality ...especially when it comes to drawing face...thats not really a strong point for me sadly. I also have a few issues with the still life paintings...i am unable to have a very effective blend of my colors so anyone viewing this blog who  could help me out  this would be greatly appreciated . Here are 2 pieces that i have worked on recently.. one is a outline figure drawing of my brother and the other a still life painting of fruits. Currently i am working on a still life in pastels and i will be posting up some photography and edits soon . stay in tuned :)

  Hey . As you can see this is none other than Marc36 writing . For those who don't really know me , i am a musician , artist and a easy to hang with guy. Seeing this is  just my first post im just going to give you a general drift of what i am up to :
